The 8500 EMU sanding improvement plan that was approved and tested in 2015 was never rolled out across the 8599 EMU fleet; as a result, the RAIU make the following safety recommendation:

Recommendation
IÉ-RU CME should review the 8500 EMU sanding improvement plan (2016) against current standards with a view to updating and implementing the sanding improvements to current standards.
