The Engineering Supervisors were engaged on a task that was both no longer required and if necessary should have been done by general operatives, distracting them from their main safety duties, as a result the RAIU make the following safety recommendation:
Iarnród Éireann (Infrastructure Manager) should review the method of allocation and accountability for general operatives detailed for work sites, to ensure that there are sufficient personnel on site to perform the required duties.
